Bratapfel Cookies

Christmas is just around the corner, and can I tell you that this really is my most favorite season ♥ I am singing Christmas songs for two weeks now already, I know… I am crazy. But I love it so much and it is always passing by way too quickly, am I right? I mean it is just about 4 weeks, so I want to enjoy every day of Christmas Feeling! Especially because the first snow has been falling I got in Christmas mood immediately. It is like a secret switch within me: First Snow = Christmas Feeling! Hahah or better Hohoho?

Ok, so now you know that I am a Christmas Freak and have even more reasons to bake and to spent whole days in the kitchen! I am planning so many cookies, cupcakes and cakes that I truly doubt that I will be able to bake everything. I guess if I do, I will completely spam you here on my Blog. On the other hand, I will just make up for the lack of posts during Summer… Sounds just fair, right? 😉

So the first thing I want to present to you are those super yummie Bratapfel Cookies. Bratapfel is just one of the most classical desserts I can think of for Christmas. I am not sure whether it is familiar to all of you, but basically it is an apple, taken the core out and instead filled with marzipan and raisins. The apple gets baked in the oven and than served with some warm vanilla custard. I love apples and so decided to convert the classical dessert into a cookie. However, fresh fruit in a cookie makes it pretty wet, so the cookie will not get crisp completely. However, I liked the taste of it so much, I just had to share it with you. A super moist cookie with lots of flavor, sounds good? 😉

Bratapfel Cookie

Bratapfel 

  1. Cut the apples in small pieces
  2. Heat up a tabespoon of butter and add the apples once the butter is melted
  3. Cook the apples for about 3-5 minutes until just starting to soft
  4. Get off the heat and add the raisins and marzipan
  5. Let everything cool down

Bratapfel Cookies

  1. Cream together the butter and sugar
  2. Add half the dry ingredients, followed by the eggs
  3. Add the other half of the dry ingredients and the spices
  4. Cool the cookie dough in the fridge for about an hour
  5. Use an ice scoop to form cookie dough balls and set them on some baking paper
    let enough room as the cookies will spread
  6. Bake at 180°C for about 15-18 minutes until the edges become brown

  • 180g Flour
  • 150g Soft brown Sugar
  • 125g Butter, soft
  • 1 Egg, fridge cold
  • 1 Tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 Tsp Clove, grounded
  • 2 Tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 Tsp Vanilla Paste
  • 1 Tbsp Butter
  • 2 Apples
  • 40g Marzipan
  • 50g Raisins
