Berry and Peach Crumble


It is weekend again and I am enjoying the last few days of sunshine. Unfortunately I cannot take any pictures of it, as my cell phone broke this week and it will take up to 4 weeks to get repaired!! What am I supposed to do in the meantime? No instagram, no photographing, no blogging on my way to work. Somehow I feel naked and bored. I realize how addicted I am to my cell phone and how much I actually use it in daily life. Maybe I should take a time out, but oh it is just so boring without it, isn’t it…


Anyway, lets talk desserts. Somehow there is not yet a recipe on my blog for a good crumble, one of my all time favorite desserts ever since we have been to England. I do like to make crumble as a dessert as it is quick and easy, can crisp up in the oven while you are eating your dinner and it is just super delicious and juicy. So I decided to show you today a recipe for a berry and peach crumble. I just took some frozen berries which I always have in my freezer for emergency crumble cases. It makes life much more easy and spontaneous. Do take fresh berries if you want. I had some fresh peaches lying around so in they went as well and the combination of mixed berries and peaches was just heavenly!


For my conscience I mixed some oatmeal into the crumble to make it a bit more healthy, together with the fruits I would say this is almost diet food 😉 I love to eat my crumble still hot, maybe with some cream or custard or just plain as it is. If you should have leftovers, they are still super tasty the next day, cold or reheated in the oven.

Berry and Peach Crumble

  1. 250g Mixed Berries, frozen
  2. 2 large Peaches
  3. 1 Tbsp Starch
  4. 1 Tsp Orange Zest
  5. 150g Flour
  6. 125g Butter, cold and cut into cubes
  7. 50g Oatmeal, wholeweat
  8. 100g Brown Sugar
  1. Mix the frozen berries with the starch and orange zest and add them to a heatproof bowl
  2. Wash and cut the peaches in small pieces and lay them on top of the berries
  3. Mix together the sugar, oatmeal and the flour
  4. Add the cubes of butter and rub it into the flour mixture using your hands to create buttery flakes
  5. Add the crumble on top of the fruit
  6. Bake for about 35 minutes in a 180°C (160° C fan oven) until golden
